- Only six months of work experience is required instead of the previous twelve.
- Work experience gained outside of Canada is now eligible.
- Work experience must have been gained within the 36-month period before the application submission date and up to the date when you provide proof of work experience.
Qualifying Work Experience
To qualify for permanent residence under these pilots, applicants needed to accumulate specific work experience:
- Duration: Originally 12 months, now reduced to 6 months of full-time work (minimum 30 hours per week).
- Type: Experience must be in one of the specified NOCs (Home Child Care Provider or Home Support Worker), without mixing roles.
- Timing: Experience can be from inside or outside Canada, gained anytime within the 36-month period before the application submission date and until proof of work experience is provided.
Canadian Work Experience Documentation
To demonstrate Canadian work experience, applicants must submit the following documents:
- Tax Documents: T4 slips and Notice of Assessment from the Canada Revenue Agency.
- Reference Letters: Detailed letters from employers including employment periods, job responsibilities, NOC code, salary, hours worked per week, and employer contact information.
- Additional Proof: Records of Employment, pay stubs, work contracts, or job offers.
Foreign Work Experience Documentation
For foreign work experience, applicants should submit the following:
- Reference Letters: Similar detailed letters as required for Canadian experience.
- Proof of Payment: Bank deposits, official tax statements, and other payment evidence.
- Additional Proof: Pay stubs, work contracts, job offers, and official documents issued at the end of employment.
Applicants must submit their proof of work experience through the IRCC web form, ensuring to select “In-Canada Permanent Residence” under the type of application/enquiry. It is crucial to provide the permanent residence application number (starting with an E) and follow the specific instructions for naming and sizing the documents.
