The Home Child Care Provider Pilot represents an economic program tailored for foreign national caregivers. Eligible participants either possess a qualifying job offer or hold Canadian work experience in a caregiver occupation that meets specific criteria. Additionally, they are required to meet minimum education and language proficiency prerequisites.
Processing Time
For initial applications to this new pilot program, there is a targeted processing time of 12 months. Once caregivers submit proof of meeting the work experience requirement, the permanent residence application is then finalized with a 6-month target processing time. It’s important to understand that a target processing time signifies the Department’s aspirational timeline for processing applications, and it’s not to be confused with an official service standard commitment.
Application Limit
A yearly processing limit of 2,750 applications will be observed, and it is distributed as follows under the Home Child Care Provider Pilot:
- In the Gaining Experience category, there will be a total of 1,650 applications:
- 1,500 applications will be accepted online.
- 150 applications will be received in an alternate format.
- In the Direct to Permanent Residence category, there will be a total of 1,100 applications:
- 1,000 applications will be received online.
- 100 applications will be accepted in an alternate format.
